The Western Australian amateur premiere of Billy Elliot the Musical is set to hit the stage at Koorliny Arts Centre for the first time, running from Friday, March 20 to Saturday, March 28.
Based on the acclaimed film about a young boy’s struggle to make his dream come true amidst the 1984 miners’ strike in Northern England, the musical features a score by Elton John alongside lyrics and book by Lee Hall.
Audiences are invited to follow Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, where he discovers a passion for dance that not only changes his own life, but inspires his family and community along the way.
Directed by Rp van der Westhuizen, the Koorliny Arts Centre production stars Lucas Johnson as Billy Elliot, alongside Melissa Kelly, Daniel Burton, Thomas Dimmick and more.
