Mother’s Day weekend is sorted with Subi Blooms x Gather – read all the details about the festival’s eighth year

This Mother’s Day weekend, Subi Blooms x Gather will transform Subiaco’s streets with its biggest year yet, bringing international floristry talent, large-scale installations and an illuminating night-time experience from Friday, May 8, to Sunday, May 10.

Bryce Heyworth is set to headline the 2026 program, as the founder and creative director of Sydney’s September Studio. The brand have attracted over 1.6 million Instagram followers with their bold, sculptural florals and viral dance videos.

Heyworth will collaborate with Perth floral studio Fox & Rabbit for the festival’s opening installation at Subiaco Oval Heritage Gates, marking the beginning of this year’s trail.

“I’m incredibly excited to be bringing my work to Perth for the first time and to be part of Subi Blooms,” said Heyworth. “Collaborating with the team at Fox & Rabbit is a real highlight, and we’re looking forward to creating something bold, playful and full of energy for the festival.”

The festival, having recently taken out Gold at the Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards and Silver at the 2025 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, is now in its eighth year.

2026’s festival will unfold under the theme Flora Aurora, inspired by glowing skies and introducing a blooms-by-night experience. 18 floral installations will take over Subiaco’s town centre, turning the streets into an open-air gallery, with this year bringing installations along the trail that will be illuminated after dark, allowing the experience to continue through the evening.

Visitors can expect cottage gardens of Australian natives, a laneway of rainbow florals, and Kannis Laneway covered in a sun- and moon-inspired light and dark forest canopy. The trail begins with Heyworth and Fox & Rabbit’s collaborative installation before continuing up Rokeby Road to the Subiaco Library and Museum.

Market Square Park will be a highlight, with globally renowned artist Matthew Aberline contributing an installation entitled The Light Within. The glowing garden of floral lanterns has been on show since April 17, and will close with the festival on May 10.

Another festival highlight will be the long-standing tradition of leftover flowers being repurposed into bouquets and hand-delivered to new and expectant mothers and staff at King Edward Memorial Hospital and St John of God Subiaco Hospital.

With world-class floral artists, immersive installations and an illuminated new festival experience, the festival will make for a spectacular Mother’s Day weekend celebration.
